We survived Sandy just fine. Power was out for about 20 minutes, but I found out we’re linked with a power station that powers a hospital. So they get us up and running pretty quickly.
We hope you managed OK as well.

I tried being a fancy photographer (ha!) while S was playing in the leaves the other day. Here are the results. At least I had a good model 😉
We decided sharp knives and toddlers didn’t go together, so we opted for paint and stickers when it came to pumpkin decorating this year.

All done! Mine’s the one in the back with the eyebrows 😉
S went to her first trick or treating last night. She’s scheduled for another tomorrow, so I’ll save all the pictures so you can get to see all of her adventures.
S currently has at least 3 opportunities to dress up for Halloween. There’s a trick or treating indoor event at the local high school on Friday, another event at the police station on Sunday, and an event at the library next Tuesday. Currently she’s signed up for all 3, but we’ll see how much she can handle 😉
J had Monday off after our trip home, so we picked S up from preschool and headed for the pumpkin patch
There were a LOT of pumpkins and all kinds of squash
First S had to visit the playground. And she didn’t want to play alone 😉
S hitched a ride to the pumpkin patch
…and back, with her plunder. Not pictured, her rock collection. I think that was more interested to her than the pumpkins at times
I managed to hold her long enough for a quick picture on the hay pyramid
Tonight: pumpkin painting!
I think I have this site figured out, so we’ll try for CA pix and stories now 😉
Our first stop on the way to see my parents was an overnight at a hotel in LA. It being pretty warm and S being a water baby, a couple of trips to the hotel pool were in order. You’d never know it in this picture, but her lips were blue. We still had to drag her from the pool.
S had a wonderful time going out to eat. My parents took us to a favorite restaurant, and the staff bent over backwards for us. S was treated to cartoons, apple juice, and 2 types of ice cream. Lucky girl.
Since it’s also still warm at my parents’ house, into the pool she went again. I found this cool swim vest on clearance, which is good. She stepped off the step into the (somewhat deep) pool on her first day and it startled her, to say the least.
After a few days of relaxation, we headed to see my brother and his family. They treated us to pizza in the park. I just love this picture. And S really loved her cheese pizza!
S and my youngest nephew are about 6 months apart, so it was fun seeing them play together.
We are now safely back at home and enjoying the fall weather here in New England. We are very much looking forward to seeing you next month!
I’ve spent a day and a half trying to get pictures and stories of our CA trip to upload. I’m attempting this text-only post to see if it works out better. Cross your fingers!
We’re visiting my parents this week. As soon as I adjust to the time change and upload some pictures, I’ll share what S has been up to. She’s already hit the pool. Twice.
